Album Review :~ Acrimonious - Eleven Dragons

The geographical shift in the propagation of black metal has changed drastically over the past three decades. The French and Germans also steadily outputting hundreds out worthy purveyors. Greece is currently spewing forth the most interesting mix of blackened acts. Athens, Greece has become one of the veritable hotbeds in the metal world, producing countless acts within all of the subgenres, especially black metal. Greece itself is known for producing black metal acts with an aptitude for dark atmospheres and a mild pompous flair, known by most as Hellenic black metal. Among all of them another Greek purveyors of chaos and wrath, bringer of darkness Acrimonious unleashed their third full length album entitled “Eleven Dragons” in the middle of this month via World Terror Committee(W.T.C) record label with 1:06:38 min running time. Acrimonious have ended the trilogy with a bang. Mixing black metal with some thrashy and ritualistic atmosphere was always their forte. New album is filled with more unearthly, astounding, critical acclaimed, heavy, claustrophobic misery ,enigmatic melodies to show just how pathetic the human black metal scene is when compared to superior beings from the distant stars. This new album is consist with 11 tracks.Basically Acrimonious was formed in 2003. “Acrimonious ” became one of my favorite black metal band with their mystique and epic musical style . now I’m straight diving to the point about this new album .

This new albums whole compositions are extremely filthy and unsettling piece of sinister euphoria and unearthly ambiance .Acrimonious deliver an enjoyable album of Scandinavian influenced Hellenic black metal with some thrashy and ritualistic accoutrements. when at first I’ve checked out their first released track off this album I was just overwhelmed and to be honest this album was one of my long awaited, anticipated album of this year. This bands each and every members are excellent musician appreciate their unsurpassed quality, ability and skill. All of their tremendous effort portrayed in this album in radiant way with excellent diligence and nailed it. After a multiple listen their latest studio effort  infused me with  their Unrelenting, powerful, blasting ,overarching, chromatic, chaotic , multi-layered ,ultra-dense,monolithic,esoteric black metal musical style laced with thrashy, heavy metal accompaniment  and ritualistic atmospheric vibe just  blew me away . Their musical style have a hypnotic effect and especially more atmospheric kind of black metal but at the same time the vocals and other parts of the riffing is straight forward furious simultaneously .

This whole album reflects the grand diversity of sound brought together on this album . It is really not easy to describe their complex musical style . Black Metal with unconventional influences enjoys indeed tend quite popular .A natural synthesis of dissonant sounds and disparate styles all combined in one bold, enlightened display of unbound creativity. Despite the often fast ,furious, cacophonous ,heavy and barbarous form of black metal assaults  laced with dark eerie, gloomy  and occult, arcane, ritualistic atmosphere with a lots of segments of slower,mid-paced tempo too where Acrimonious combines cavernous drum thrashes, melodic guitars ,previously mentioned all  aspects  enriched this album that is very powerful, strong and excellent all at the same time along with a good  balance  of black metal music, melody and brutality with strangulated ,filthy, thick, doomy riffs work and those effective rasps simultaneously borrow blackened, gloomy, sinister vibe. "Eleven Dragons"fueled by an immediately magnetic riff and an equally gripping, bubbling bass line, the song is vibrant and fiery. The kind of music that swells the heart even as it rips with a fury and speaking of fury, the song eventually ignites in a conflagration of seething riffs and blasting percussion, only then to segue into yet further bounding and barbarous variations, becoming even more dark and predatory by the end. I highly appreciate and embrace this album because of their distinct style .

well, this albums opening track “Incineration Initiator” starts with sonic assailment, obtuse, grotesque, atmospheric sound followed by an onslaught of tremulous ,dark eerie, savage, dense swarm of pestilential riffing  and a wall of blast beating ,spectacular, jolting thunder of attacking  drums laced with aggression, deliberate cadence and easily the song throws open the gates to black chaos . Their whole composition and musical style is impeccable also borrow great atmosphere. They have injected some thrashy and heavy metal riffs into furious black metal style. There’s true savagery in Cain Letifer’s growls, and there’s also a morphing of the sensations conveyed by the music as the song progresses, with the seething riffs reaching heights of incendiary ecstasy and the melody turning from grim and ominous to elevating and inspirational.Their musical representation evolves into souls wandering vicious, crushing and ominous wasteland . This whole album gives u pitch-black feel from beginning to the end and I warn you this is a gloomy journey.

This album is filled with a slew of cadence, apocalyptic, squalid, ominous, hellish, filthy, crawling, powerful riffs work .In each track breathtaking, morbidly delicious, scalding, macabre, soaring riffs, bass lineups matched in well manner with hellish, devilish chords and horror, mournful sounds are rightly used as an additional uncanny harmonic layer. This whole albums sound  deliver a dissonant, grim feeling, sinister, gruesome, ghastly black metal with pure energy . “Eleven Dragons”  endures beauty of black metal . This album indulge strong songwriting and brilliant musicianship .The lyrical segment is, nevertheless, as distant from the realm of Hinduism as possible, lending a somewhat more esoteric and philosophical aesthetic to the entire mysticism of Satanic beliefs. Vocals large, inhuman voice that does well for Acrimonious . Vocals howling scream, hoarse , sneering , deep rasps , deep lung-burning roars, immense voice emerged on this album in a well manner and intertwined perfectly with their utterly  spellbinding, obtuse, bizarrely arrogant, mysterious, fully blistering, grandiose  black  metal, distant musical style with a lots of melodic, atmospheric, thrash and heavy metal riffs accompaniment  and  embedded perfectly .The vocals are also a match for the boiling intensity of the music, ranging dynamically through savage growls and lung-bursting cries to make this electrifying song even more intense. Overall you will get  sinister, gloomy, desolate, mysterious ambient from this whole album . I really worship this band .

Each song have an energy ,fluency and  draw a savage landscape .Stand out tracks are all of them .Album artwork is atrocious, grisly, indelible . The production gives the music a powerful clarity, the blood-rushing drum propulsion and vibrant bass performance producing a non-stop surge of adrenaline. The rocketing rhythmic drive subsides past the mid-point, making way for a new and electrifying riff accompanied by the boom and tumble of percussion before Acrimonious return to the grim ferocity and tumultuous explosiveness of the song’s main course, with the vocals reaching a crescendo of wild barbarity just before this expression of draconic fury comes to an end. Overall “Eleven Dragons” whole album is Spectacular, engrossing ,significant, rich . This album sounds so authentic  and a truly remarkable sonic journey from beginning to end . Indeed this album is such an true gem of this year . Outstanding another one release of this year so far .This is highly recommend to add it in your collection .If you are looking for  something different, epic this pure unadulterated black metal album is perfect. so, enter the void and I am sure definitely u will come out stronger, darker, gloomier than ever before.

Album Review :~ The Great Old Ones - EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy

Lovecraftian atmosphere in music is a tricky thing to nail down.Who doesn’t love anything inspired by the likes of HP Lovecraft?Numerous bands have created concept albums based around their own ideas that take insight from creative writing, but few bands will dedicate the entire span of an album to an existing piece of literature. Spawning from the depths of Lovecraft’s tales is the newest record from post-black metal heads The Great Old Ones, EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy. TGOO this French group married the ritualistic fury of second-wave black metal with a creeping dose of sludge, doom soaked post-metal madness. The atmosphere and tightly plotted albums were based on Lovecraft’s tales, while still employing their own take on post-black metal.

On this year French post-black metallers The Great Old Ones Unveiled their third full length opus on this year entitled “EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy” via Season of Mist record label with 44:08 min running time . This new album consist with 7 tracks . TGOO was formed in 2009. In before they had released tow full length album "Al Azif" in 2012 and "Tekeli-li" in 2014. Now I am straight diving to the point about this new album .

When at first checked out their manifestation back in December I was overwhelmed and track sounds so authentic, mature from then I was clinched  that I have to check this whole material for sure and this would be savage beast. TGOO delivers distinctly experimental, atmospherically evil, vivid, horrifying form of black metal with a little bit of the sludge, doom leanings. This bands each and every musician did fantastic job on this album in radiant way and It’s really great when your high hopes are not misplaced. This whole album reflects the grand diversity of sound brought together on this album . It is really not easy to describe their musical style . A natural synthesis of dissonant sounds and disparate styles all combined in one bold, enlightened display of unbound creativity Despite the often crushing, fast ,furious, cacophonous black metal assaults with a lots of segments of slower tempo too where TGOO combines a little bit siudgy, doomier passages with cavernous drum thrashes, melodic guitars and those effective rasps.
well, their latest opus opening track is “Searching for R. Olmstead” . This track starts with eerie, creepy sound with some vocals. Quickly their quasi opener “The Shadow over Innsmouth” song returns to the sonic assailment and the musical style transformed into a whirlwind of guitar noise laced with aggression, deliberate cadence and progression seasonings. Their whole composition and musical style is impeccable also borrow great atmosphere with sour ,dissonant riffs work .

This new albums whole compositions are extremely filthy and unsettling piece of sinister, grim euphoria and unearthly ambiance . “EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy”  commences chronologically to the novel, where where the protagonist is overlooking Innsmouth's dark dank harbour.Their distinct entity infused me by a lot . Their musical style have a quite soft and smooth edge in the guitar playing which adds to the more atmospheric, unique kind of black metal but at the same time the vocals and other parts of the riffing is straight forward brutal, ferocious simultaneously . Honestly saying after a multiple listen this album just blew me away with their ethereal abyss, melancholic, the multi-layered,ominous musical style . Each musicians have exudes tremendous effort on this album with excellent diligence and nailed it .TGOO really does the trick for the atmosphere is the overall murky and misty sound that comes from the music. I highly cite and embrace this album .

This album is filled with a slew of cadence, apocalyptic, pummeling, ominous, hellish, doom laden, powerful riffs work . As well bass line up is whopping, intense, strong ,rumbling, slithering . Drumming, percussion line up is bleak, frantic, solid, clattering and powerful . The guitars are solely focused on creating a grandiose atmosphere, but predominantly rely on walls of sound and swerving rhythms. In each track morbidly delicious, macabre, soaring, dark eerie, ghastly riffs, bass lineups matched in well manner .This whole albums sound deliver a dissonant, grim feeling, sinister, melancholic, gruesome black metal with raw emotion and pure energy . “EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy” endures beauty of black metal . This album indulge strong songwriting and brilliant musicianship . This album have a hypnotic effect on the listener . Vocals decently large voice that does well for TGOO . Especially his chants are menacing and hoarse voice are excellent . Vocals howling scream, immense, deep rasps ,serene chanting, watery echo effect voice emerged on this album in a well manner adds a thick murky sound and intertwined perfectly with their utterly spellbinding, obtuse, bizarrely arrogant, mysterious, fully blistering black metal, distant musical style with a lots of melodic, atmospheric, doomy accompaniment and embedded perfectly . Overall you will get sinister, gloomy, desolate, mysterious ambient from this whole album .I really worship this band.

Each song have an energy ,fluency and draw a savage landscape .Stand out tracks are all of them . I personally Cherish each and every single track . Vision of the album cover is Pretty neat, solid, atrocious, grisly, macabre, gorgeously hideous. Overall “EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy” whole album is Spectacular, engrossing ,significant and goes all the way through with a relentless rage from the beginning. The sound has a depth to it, that with brief distortion. This album sounds so authentic and a truly remarkable sonic journey from beginning to end . Indeed this album is such an true gem of this year . The production is absolutely impeccable, capable of handling both the massive atmospheric and gargantuan heft.Outstanding another one release of this year so far . The French bruisers still possess all the necessary skills and hard-won experience to put younger, newcomer challengers in their place. If you looking for something different, epic this album will take you on a journey into another universe .
